    With the introduction of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), the overall surgical mitral valve repair (MVr) case volume for degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR) has not changed significantly; however, institutions adopting TEER are associated with a reduction in higher-risk surgical operations and improved 30-day and 5-year outcomes, according to a new Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) database analysis.
