Functional stenosis can occur in transcatheter aortic valves (TAVs) in the absence of obvious and significant calcification, according to an analysis of explanted TAVs that recommends the non-calcific degeneration of TAVs should be taken into consideration when evaluating TAV performance and lifetime management.
