As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in the U.S. and globally, the American Heart Association (AHA) announced Wednesday that its annual Scientific Sessions will be held completely online. This is a change from the AHA’s earlier announcement that the Scientific Sessions would be a hybrid online and in-person meeting in Dallas. The meeting will be spread out over a longer time period. Initially, it was scheduled for Nov. 14-16; now, it will be take place Nov. 13-17. “A virtual meeting will allow us to reach more people than ever, in real-time and asynchronously, with live chats that encourage meaningful dialogue about the science shared. We have so many innovations for our attendees – we look forward to providing an engaging and robust virtual experience in November!” said Donald M. Lloyd-Jones, MD, ScM, FAHA, chair of the Scientific Sessions Program Committee and president-elect of the AHA, in an AHA news release. The pandemic has prompted every major cardiology conference this year, starting with the American College of Cardiology Scientific Sessions, to be held online. The last one to be held in person was Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) 2020.
