  • Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve-in-Valve Replacement in Patients With Large Degenerated Bioprostheses: Two Case Reports Treated With Sapien 3 Device Using The New Ultra Delivery System

    Introduction

Tricuspid surgery is usually performed in the context of left side heart disease and in relatively old patients [1,2]. Isolated tricuspid surgery for primary valvular dysfunction is infrequent and performed in younger patients [3]. Bio-prostheses in tricuspid position may be more prone to degeneration with respect to systemic circulation [4,5]. In patients presenting with degenerative surgical heart valves, a re-do procedure, age and co-morbidities may preclude surgery [6]. Higher mortality rates are reported for re-operation in tricuspid position [7]. Transcatheter tricuspid valve-in-valve (TVIV) implantation has emerged as appealing treatment alternative [8]. We present here 2 cases with degenerative tricuspid bio-prostheses implanted previously for isolated tricuspid valvular disease treated with the Edwards Sapien 3 Valve and the new Sapien 3 Ultra delivery System.
