  • Outcomes of Direct Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Without Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty Using a New Generation Valve

    Highlights

    • There is no clear data about outcomes of direct TAVR without Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty (BAV) using a new generation valve.
    • This is the largest study that compares outcomes of TAVR with and without BAV using a SAPIEN 3 valve.
    • TAVR using S3 valves is associated with very low rates of post-TAVR stroke and significant PVL.
    • Direct TAVR using new generation S3 valve is feasible, and outcomes of direct TAVR are similar to the outcomes of TAVR with BAV.
    • BAV avoidance does not increase rates of significant PVL, stroke, mortality, balloon post dilation, or the need for PPM.

    Abstract

    Purpose

We investigated the outcomes of patients who underwent Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) with and without Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty (BAV) using the SAPIEN 3 (S3) valve.
