In a society with an aging population and increasing burden of co-morbidities, assessing frailty prior to undertaking percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is vital in identifying patients at a greater risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes and, therefore, in guiding patient management. It is also important to identify elderly patients with a low burden of co-morbidities and lack of frailty to ensure they are not denied access to interventions that may be in their best interests.
