  • Editorial: Perfecting Left Carotid Interventions from Right Wrist: Is Right Radial All-Right?

In an original study, Montorsi  et al. describe the innovative “trawl fishing technique” to engage the left common carotid artery (LCCA) while employing right radial access. In the author's skillful hands, this method dramatically improved success rates of LCCA access to 100 % and abbreviated their carotid stenting procedural times. This novel method uses a conventional 5F 125cm Simmons 2 catheter initially parked at the left subclavian artery within a 90 cm 6F guide. With a few simple steps of extreme counterclockwise rotation, push, pull and clockwise un-torquing the typically challenging LCCA engagement is dramatically simplified. This elegant technique is beautifully demonstrated by the authors with a series of accompanying figures and videos.
