1. Introduction
Healthcare utilization was significantly affected by the coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic [1]. During the first wave of COVID-19, elective and emergency procedures volume was significantly reduced nationwide [2]. The emergency guidelines of many medical organizations directed recommendations for the implementation of operations during this period [3]. Literature is scarce in describing the effect of COVID-19 on the utilization of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for STEMIs; this may be partly due to restrictive COVID-19 coding rules implemented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [4]. We endeavored to describe how PCI trends and outcomes were affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
