Data supporting the use of intravascular imaging from large population-based registries have consistently demonstrated the beneficial impact of imaging in all-comer populations . Furthermore, this has been supported in randomized controlled trial and large registries . The systematic use of intravascular imaging during percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), allows an operator to ensure that optimal results have been achieved at the time of the procedure, and in cases of a suboptimal result, address it prior to the patient leaving the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
