Advances in manufacturing have enabled our field to evolve from the 8 French (F) systems of 20 years ago to the 4F, 5F, and 6F systems in use today. This has markedly reduced vascular complications and enabled the radial revolution that is ongoing. In Japan, 4F diagnostic and 5F guide catheters have become standard.
