Ischemic Evaluation in Patients Presenting with Hypertensive Emergency / Urgency and Acute Systolic Heart Failure: Is Coronary Angiography Required for all?
Highlights
- • Patients with newly diagnosed systolic heart failure and accompanying hypertensive urgency or emergency often undergo coronary angiography.
- • Our study shows that only a minority of these patients have obstructive coronary disease.
- • A simple risk score can predict risk of having obstructive CAD in this population and prevent a large number of needless coronary angiographies, decreasing an invasive test for the patient and also make care more cost-effective.
