  • Editorial: Is transradial access the way to go to prevent post PCI readmission?

Post percutaneous coronary interventions hospital readmissions have been associated with adverse short and long term outcomes and increase cost. Most of the data came from registries and predominantly femoral access site data. The authors of this paper report the findings of a high volume radial center >80% (radial approach). This is a retrospective analysis of 3858 patients that underwent PCI between October 2011 and December 2014 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center. The thirty day readmission rate was 9.5% (367 patients). Similar to what has been previously reported in the literature 4.7–17%, but mostly by femoral approach.
