Feasibility of TAVR for the Treatment of Severe Aortic Insufficiency From Iatrogenic Leaflet Perforation in the Absence of Aortic Valve Calcification
A 75-year-old man with history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and peripheral vascular disease underwent surgical repair for severe mitral regurgitation with a Physio II™ annuloplasty ring and plication of the anterior-septal leaflets for management of severe tricuspid regurgitation at an outside hospital. His post-operative course was complicated by cardiogenic shock requiring temporary mechanical circulatory support using an Impella CP™ device, and surgical exploration for hemothorax on post-operative day 3 and 7. His recovery thereafter was uncomplicated with resolution of heart failure symptoms.
