  • Editorial: The Use of Covered Stents in Coronary Aneurysms: Effective and Safe, but Still Not FDA Approved

Coronary artery aneurysms (CAA)s are localized dilatations with a diameter 1.5 times greater than the adjacent normal segment, and are found in 0.2% to 4.9% of patients undergoing coronary angiography or multidetector computed tomography angiography  . The presence of coronary aneurysm or ectasia is associated with poorer long-term outcomes irrespective of the presence of concomitant atherosclerotic coronary artery disease  . Treatment options include conservative medical therapy alone, surgical excision of the aneurysm, coronary artery bypass grafting, and percutaneous coronary intervention. However, there is no consensus to define the indication, timing, or treatment choice for CAAs.
