Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is now well recognized by the medical community as an effective and safe option for symptomatic patients with severe aortic stenosis , especially when a femoral approach is available. In-hospital follow-up after the TAVI procedure allows early complications to be detected. At the present time, none of the American or European guidelines specify a length of hospital stay after TAVI. Several studies advocated that early discharge home (within 3 days) is feasible and safe, since onset of post-procedural complications decreases after 3 days, whereas unduly long hospital stay exposes patients to potential iatrogenic risk and increases costs . To ease the transition from hospital to home and reduce readmission rates, especially due to complications and/or loss of autonomy, various models of transitional care have been developed.
