An Alternative Treatment of Stump Occlusion of the Superficial Femoral Artery with Percutaneous Direct Puncture Followed by Antegrade Recanalization
Highlights
- • Timely revascularization treatments play an important role in limb salvage in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI).
- • Percutaneous direct retrograde puncture of occluded SFA – antegrade intervention is an alternative revascularization technique when the other techniques are not a viable option in stump
- occlusion of SFA.
- • The use of ultrasound for retrograde direct puncture of the occluded SFA is an important point that increases the success of the procedure.
Abstract
Introduction
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the “percutaneous direct puncture of occluded superficial femoral artery (SFA)” technique for recanalization of SFA, after failure of antegrade recanalization in patients with limited access to retrograde popliteal and crural arteries.
