In a sub-analysis of the CHIP-BCIS3 trial, cardiologists say elective left ventricular (LV) unloading with a microaxial flow pump (mAFP) lowers inotrope requirements in patients undergoing complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), but LV unloading with an mAFP doesn’t improve pulse pressure nor prevent reduced blood flow.
