Philips (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) agreed to acquire SpectraWAVE Inc. (Bedford, Massachusetts) today, Philips declared in a news release. This includes SpectraWAVE’s state-of-the-art cardiovascular imaging software. “We are doubling down on image-guided therapy and expanding our portfolio in the coronary intervention segment with the addition of SpectraWAVE’s AI-powered innovations in high-definition intravascular imaging and angio-based physiological assessment, enabling us to deliver better care for more people,” Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, said in the news release. SpectraWAVE’s imaging technologies will bring a new wave of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to coronary heart disease, and in turn, clinicians around the world, in addition to the vast portfolio of cardiology imaging products already spearheaded by Philips.
