Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders had two stents inserted to open a blocked artery, multiple news outlets report.
The Associated Press quoted a campaign statement as saying that Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, “is conversing and in good spirits.”
Several news outlets report that Sanders canceled campaign events while he recovers. The New York Times reported that Sanders experienced chest discomfort during a campaign event Tuesday evening.
"This will give him more energy," Ron Waksman, MD, of MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, Washington, DC, told the AP.
